01 / Work through the numbers
Estimates for planning, with the assumptions beside the result. All calculations stay in your browser; your figures are not sent to Quartex.
See how a monthly salary moves from gross pay to take-home pay.
Resident employee on one primary monthly payroll. Gross pay is assumed to be pensionable. Includes the selected statutory deductions and monthly personal relief.
Other pension contributions, insurance or mortgage relief, benefits in kind, differently taxed allowances, other payroll deductions and NITA are not included.
Add VAT to a price, or separate it from an amount that already includes VAT.
Select the treatment that applies to your supply. The standard-rate option uses 16%; the zero-rated option uses 0%.
This is a price calculation. It does not establish VAT classification, registration, input-tax eligibility or the amount payable on a VAT return.
Estimate monthly tax on gross sales within the turnover tax regime.
For eligible resident businesses with annual turnover above KES 1 million and no more than KES 25 million. Uses 1.5% of monthly gross sales, without expense deductions.
Rental income, management, professional or training fees, final-withholding income, non-residents and businesses that elect out require different treatment.
Estimate tax on rent received from qualifying residential property.
For qualifying resident landlords in the monthly regime: annual residential rent above KES 280,000 and up to KES 15 million. Uses 7.5% of gross rent received.
No expenses are deducted. Commercial property, non-residents, income outside the band or an election into annual income tax need a separate assessment.
Understand the potential cost of one late return and a constant unpaid balance.
One return, up to 24 months overdue. Enter tax outstanding at the original due date after on-time payments and credits. Interest uses whole months or part-months.
Does not apply amnesty, waivers, payment plans, disputed assessments, changing balances or historical rule changes. Use the iTax ledger to confirm the amount due.
These estimates do not prepare a tax return or establish an individual liability. Confirm the applicable treatment and current official guidance before filing.
02 / Keep the calendar in view
